It is easy to spot the difference between the lining of Toyota Genuine Brake Shoe and that of other brand. The Toyota lining is wider, thicker and has more effective area 768 cm² (192 cm² X 4) as opposed to 750 cm² (187.52 cm² X 4) providing 2.4% more lining surface area. More surface area means better brake performance and service life.
Another big difference is the way the lining is attached. The Toyota lining is attached to the surface of the shoe. Brake lining of the other brands is mounted to a ridged surface.

The assembly of the shoe is also quite different. The Toyota Genuine parts have a longer rib in the direction of rotation, including superior strength. The lining is laso presuure welded to the shoe on the Toyota patr while arc welding is used for the other brand.

This underscores Toyota's dedication to safety and performance.
